Myths vs Fact Videos

Video
Project Type: Date:

Description:
These three videos are created with CapCut utilizing video editing skills learned through in-class tutorials and exploration of the platform. They debunk three myths about people facing homelessness: they are all drug users, they are lazy, and dangerous.

I made a series of rhetorical choices in these videos to encourage empathy without judgment. The audio in the videos is sad yet uplifting music to maintain an understanding and informative approach. The filters that were on the videos went from blurry to focused in order to create a sense of clarity on the issues, symbolizing the clearing up of the myths that circulate around homelessness.

The statistics displayed as factual evidence disproving the myths relied heavily on logos to persuade the audience to change their viewpoints. To empower the audience and stress the importance of their impact, each video includes a last call-to-action message at the end, calling to “Educate yourself on homelessness.” The black background with the simple white writing emphasizes the importance of this message in addition to its ending placement creating a lasting influence on the audience.
